Tasting notes
More vibrant and purple-colored, the 100% Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Pony Express comes from the northern most block in the estate vineyard and is named for the Pony Express stop once on the property. It has more finesse and elegance (as well as acidity) to go with tons of marine, iron, tobacco, and loads of black fruits. It's layered, deep and rich on the palate, with a layered texture that keeps you coming back to the glass. It has upfront charm as well as ample underlying structure.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Pony Express is a little closed to begin, with the nose slowly unfolding to reveal incredibly well-defined black and red currants, blackberries and dark chocolate with suggestions of spearmint, beef drippings, lilacs and Sichuan pepper plus a waft of cardamom. Medium-bodied and wonderfully elegant, with super fine-grained tannins, it has seamless freshness and a long, long finish yielding ferrous and dried herbs notions.
