(13.3% alcohol; from mostly rich, loamy soil at 1,600 feet; 30% new French oak): Full yellow with a gold tinge. Superripe stone fruits, orange blossom and honey on the nose, plus a touch of butterscotch. This is more classic Washington fruit while the example from the Rocks is more Old World in character. Very dry, densely packed Viognier with surprising acidity. Finishes juicy, savory and desperate for a meal.

Made from 100% of the variety and aged in 25% new French oak, the Reynvaan’s 2014 Viognier Foothills in the Sun is beautiful, and shows the potential of this variety from Walla Walla. Notes of caramelized peaches, citrus blossom, honeysuckle and lees all flow from this rich, textured and nicely balanced Viognier that will keep for 2-4 years.
