Tasting notes
The 2018 Twain opens with a mentholated herbal freshness, mixing wild flowers and hints of wet stone. It is silky-smooth with a lifted feel and masses of ripe orchard fruits that settle on the senses. It tapers off with a lovely saline tension and is incredibly fresh. The Twain is a blend of 50% Chardonnay (1977 planting) and 50% Riesling.

50% Chardonnay, 50% Riesling. Certified organic. Tasted blind. Pale lemon in colour. Juicy nose with a touch of lifted sweetness to it. Palate is textured with honied tones, pineapple and mango flavours. Well-balanced acidity. (SCJ)
The 2018 Twain is a blend of half Riesling and half Chardonnay that was aged in neutral French oak. The nose is soft and floral, with jasmine, lemon verbena, apricot, and petrol, and the palate is ripe with a hint of sweet fruit, juicy peaches, chamomile, and salty earth. It has a gorgeous, rounded glycerol feel with an undercurrent of acidity. I can’t help but be reminded of botrytis-affected Alsatian styles, in a very pleasant and nostalgic way. Drink 2022-2030.
