Tasting notes
Good medium red. Rather cool on the nose for 2009: redcurrant, rust, dried flowers and beef bouillon, along with a light leathery rusticity. Shows good texture and a light touch, but with a slight dryness to the flavors of plum, raspberry and marzipan. Finishes with a suggestion of olive.

The 2009 Barolo Serralunga is pointed, direct and expressive. Firm yet well-integrated tannins support plum, tobacco, rose petals, smoke, incense and menthol notes in an impeccably crafted wine that over delivers. This mid-weight, juicy Barolo is a terrific showing from Sergio Germano.
The 2009 Barolo shows great structure and a fuller frame to support the generous fruit and spice tones woven deep within its texture. There-s a very immediate and soft quality to the fruit that means this young Barolo definitely needs more time to find focus and voice. Give it another three to five years.
