Tasting notes
Also from the Winfield Vineyard in Calistoga, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpents Back knocks it out of the park with is incredibly purity, concentration, and elegance. It too is deep purple color and has a complex, nuanced bouquet of crème de cassis, white chocolate, lead pencil shavings, and white flowers. These carry to a full-bodied Cabernet that has a stacked mid-palate, beautifully integrated acidity, and sweet, sweet tannins. Unfortunately, there are only 100 cases made, but it’s an undeniably brilliant wine that will keep for 20-25+ years.

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpent's Back is inky, rich and explosive. Gravel, smoke, lavender leather and licorice are some of the many notes that run through this dense, ample Cabernet Sauvignon. There is so much pure character here.
Powerful and explosive in its first impression, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Serpent's Back demands attention. Aromas of crushed rocks, menthol and grilled herbs lead into a core of dense, dark stone fruit. This is another big wine from The Grade, and yet all the elements are as well balanced as they could be.
