Tasting notes
The 2019 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard is fragrant of fresh savory herbs and mint, with chamomile tea and lemon pith. The palate, which is juicy and fresh with pineapple, yellow apple, and lemon zest, is ripe up front with citrus and tension-driven acidity. Drink over the next 5-7 years.

The 2019 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard has a lovely perfume of apricot, orange peel, crème fraîche, lime peel and toasted almonds, plus tones of saline and flint reminiscent of Chablis. The palate is linear and bright, with intense citrus that segues to nutty, beeswax tones. It has a gentle phenolic grip and a very long, youthful finish that hints at how well this is going to develop in bottle.
The 2019 Chardonnay H. Klopp Vineyard is a very beautiful wine. Picking early at this site yields a Chardonnay that bristles with energy and tension. Lemon confit, white flowers, chamomile and almond are all laced together. For my taste, the Klopp Chardonnay is too narrow, but it will surely appeal to readers who like this slender style.
