Full ruby. Blackberry, leather and a whiff of band-aid on the nose. A dense but juicy fruit bomb in the mouth, with a strong blackberry flavor supported by firm spine. Finishes with fine tannins and pepper and spice notes.

The smoky, blackberry, and cherry-scented 2003 Syrah Hillside Vineyards is better than Rominger Vineyard. Medium-bodied and elegant, with tangy acidity and an herbal character, it should be consumed over the next 2-3 years. Tel. (510) 865-7007
