Score 94/100 · Robert Parker, Aug 2005

The 2003 Pinot Noir Rio Vista Vineyard boasts extraordinary aromatics that blast from the glass. Scents of strawberries, plums, forest floor, beef blood, fresh mushrooms, and underbrush are accompanied by a striking, floral, earthy, Clos de la Roche grand cru character. The wine is fresh and full-bodied in the mouth, offering hints of rose petals and spice along with gorgeous levels of fruit, medium to full body, light to moderate tannin, and a long, textured finish. It is a brilliant Pinot Noir that showcases the extraordinary fruit that can be achieved in this cool climate growing region. Tel. (805) 452-5609
