Score 90/100 · Drink 2013-2023, Robert Parker, Oct 2013

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Panek Vineyard is more supple and accessible than its 2009 counterpart. While not the biggest, richest Cabernet by any means, it offers elegance and freshness as well as attractive notes of black currants, barrique and forest floor. Drink this medium-bodied 2010 over the next decade. Many readers may know of Jeff Ames, the impressively talented winemaker for Tor Kenward at his project called Tor. He also produces his own wines under the Rudius as well as Anthem labels (the latter is reviewed elsewhere in this report). Tel. (707) 287-2986

(15.3% alcohol): Good red-ruby. Aromas of black raspberry, bitter chocolate and sexy oak spices. Ripe and rich but leavened by a saline element and good juicy acidity. Less obviously sweet and a bit more medicinal than the Oakville bottling but with plenty of flavor intensity, length and lift. A touch less pliant today and in need of patience. This was done in 70% new oak, mostly Darnajou.
