Tasting notes
Inky ruby. Ripe black and blue fruits, Indian spices and smoky minerals on the deeply perfumed nose. Fleshy dark berry, violet pastille and spicecake flavors become sweeter and more lively with air, picking up a sexy floral pastille nuance in the glass. The mineral and floral notes carry through an impressively long, sappy finish, which is given shape and grip by velvety, harmonious tannins.

Like the Grenache, the 2013 Syrah Bien Nacido is silky, elegant and ethereally textured, with killer aromas and flavors of black olives, smoked game, black fruits and pepper. A textbook example of Syrah from this cool climate, marine-influenced site, drink this full-bodied, gorgeously fresh, pure and lengthy Syrah anytime over the coming decade. This was co-fermented with 3% Viognier and spent 24 months in 100% new French oak, which has been completely adsorbed by this sensational wine.
