Medium ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Mikado Tree is scented of cranberries, burnt orange, underbrush and cinnamon, with floral tones arising after some time in the glass. The medium-bodied palate is silky and seamless with intense, earth-laced fruits and savory accents on the long, layered finish. It will benefit from another 2-3 years in bottle.

A bigger, richer wine, the 2019 Pinot Noir Single-Block Reserve Mikado Tree offers an almost opaque ruby/plum color to go with a powerful nose of blueberries, smoked black fruits, candied orange, violets, and Asian spices. Hitting the palate with medium-bodied richness, it delivers beautiful mid-palate density and building, ripe, yet certainly noticeable tannins. Its bright spine of acidity carries through the mid-palate and into the finish, keeping the wine fresh, lively, and clean. Beautifully done, I suspect it will benefit from another year or two of bottle age and keep for 7-8 years in cold cellars.
