Tasting notes
Showing the most poise and elegance in the lineup, the 2008 Novy Family Wines Syrah Rosella's Vineyard shows bright blackberry and raspberry fruit that’s intermixed spice, underbrush and floral components on the nose. The wine is full bodied on the palate and carries ripe fruit, a beautifully precise texture, juicy acidity and a clean, long finish where the tale-tell Rosella’s citrus component really shines . I actually thought this improved the most with air, so if drinking anytime soon, a solid hour+ in the decanter is recommended. It should continue to drink well for a decade.

Slightly more concentrated, the 2008 Syrah Rosella’s Vineyard’s dense purple color is followed by elegant aromas of licorice, lavender, acacia flowers, and blue as well as black fruits, medium to full body, and more tannin, depth, and concentration than its sibling. This beautifully made, pure wine combines power with elegance. It should drink nicely for 5-7 years. From the Lee family, who also runs the reliable Siduri winery, they have produced four outstanding Syrahs from their fruit acquisitions in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Tel. (707) 578-3882
