Tasting notes
The 2017 Mourvèdre Bedrock Vineyard offers classic Mourvèdre game and meatiness as well as notes of spice box, earth, and violets, with a rock-solid core of dark fruits. It’s all finesse and elegance on the palate, with terrific balance and a great finish. It’s certainly going to keep for 10-12 years, probably longer.

The 2017 Mourvèdre Bedrock Vineyard is soft, fruity and delicious, but not especially varietal. Plum, smoke, tobacco, cedar and game emerge with some reluctance. The impression is of a wine that is quite reticent and not anywhere near as put together as the other wines in the range. This fruit was brought in on September 7th, the earliest harvest for Carlisle at this site, which may explain why the wine does not feely formed. The fruit was entirely destemmed and a touch of Syrah was used to round out the blend.
