Tasting notes
The Zinfandels from Carlisle are always among the finest made in California, which means the world in the case of Zinfandel. The 2013 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard (124 cases produced at 15.2% alcohol) is a blend of 98% Zinfandel and 2% mixed black varietals, such as Trousseau, Peloursin and Petite Sirah from a vineyard planted in 1910. A delicious, dark ruby/purple-colored wine with notes of black raspberries, kirsch, and a sexy, elegant, floral note, this is lush, heady, beautifully balanced and pure. It is a wine to drink over the next 5-7 years.

The 2013 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard is dark, powerful and brooding to the core. Leather, smoke, game, incense and tobacco wrap around the finish in this decidedly intense Zinfandel. The 2013 is going to need at least a few years to settle down. In particular, the searing acidity is especially prominent today.
