Bright, saturated ruby. Slightly stewy aromas of blackberry, camphor and mint. Sweet, slightly exotic dark berry flavors show a faint overripe/underripe character but avoid coming off as cooked. Offers good texture and peppery length. Tannins are ripe, but there's also a slight dryness on the back.

The opaque ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Syrah a la Cave exhibits abundant quantities of black cherries, smoke, and tapenade characteristics, medium to full body, more flesh and richness than the California Cuvee, and a hint of oak. With good underlying acidity as well as freshness, it can be consumed over the next 3-5 years. Kudos to Jeff Cohn for another brilliant line-up.
