Tasting notes
The 2020 The Mason is Mourvèdre-driven yet includes 25% each Syrah and Grenache that was raised all in the barrel. This ripe, sexy Mourvèdre has a deep purple hue. Its opulent aromas and flavors of blueberries, exotic red fruits, roasted herbs, violets, and pepper give way to a deep, rich, incredibly opulent and seductive beauty that's impossible to resist. It’s a big, ripe, powerful 2020 that will evolve for at least 15 years.

The 2020 The Mason is a blend of 50% Mourvedre, 25% Syrah and 25% Grenache aged in 100% new French oak. The nose is chock-full of extremely ripe black and purple fruit that meld with toasty, charred, chocolaty oak influence. The palate is massively concentrated and dense, with a lavish richness that calls back the decadence of the nose. The finish is expectedly generous, creamy and slick, concluding with dark fruit compote flavors and one last round of oak-derived opulence.
Leading off the barrel samples, the 2020 Mason is stunning stuff, with full-bodied aromas and flavors of darker, chocolate covered black fruits, roasted meats, and spicy, peppery nuances. It has a massive mid-palate, silky, building tannins, and a concentrated, opulent, shockingly sexy style for a Mourvèdre.
