The 2014 Cabernet Franc Tinaquaic Vineyard is a blend of Cabernet Franc with 17% co-fermented Petit Verdot. There is plenty of up-front richness in the fruit, but big, coarse tannins ultimately dominate the wine's balance and attenuate the finish. It will be interesting to see if the 2014 comes around. Today, it is a bit wild and unpolished.

Blended of 83% Cabernet Franc and 17% Petit Verdot, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2014 Cabernet Franc Tinaquaic Vineyard has an earthy/meaty nose of tilled soil, tobacco, salami and leather, with a core of kirsch and preserved plums plus a touch of sautéed herbs. Medium to full-bodied and very tannic on the palate, it has pleasant earthy/savory layers and a seriously grippy finish.
More graphite, lead pencil, leafy herbs and mint all emerge from the 2014 Cabernet Franc Tinaquaic Vineyard, and like the Mamere Vineyard, it has bright acidity that shines on the finish. With chunky, rustic tannin, plenty of fruit and a juicy character, it should drink nicely through 2024. This 2014 is a blend of 83% Cabernet Franc and 17% Petit Verdot that spent just under two years in 40-50% new French and American oak.
