Composed of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Merlot, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vineyard has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of crushed blackberries, red currants and plums, plus hints of pencil shavings, dried herbs and dusty earth. Medium-bodied with lovely freshness and expression in the mouth, it has a solid frame of ripe, fine-grained tannins and gives a long, earth-laced finish.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Vogelzang Vineyard is a solid, lively effort that shows the classic menthol, plum and violet character that's always present in these Foxen Bordeaux blends. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively, with a touch of lifted acidity, it should keep for a decade, but it’s not a value.
