Tasting notes
From the Riverbend Vineyard and aged in 60% new oak, the 2023 Sauvignon Blanc Estate has a light gold hue and classic varietal aromatics of bright citrus, grapefruit, and minty, sappy herbs. It's bright, refreshing, and racy on the palate, with good acidity, medium body, and a great finish. This terrific Sauvignon Blanc is best enjoyed over the coming 5-7 years. Drink 2025-2032.

From a site in Yountville, Clos du Val's 2023 Estate Sauvignon Blanc Riverbend Vineyard is entirely barrel fermented and matured, with emphasis on the use of so-called cigar barrels. Despite using 60% new wood, the oak phenolics are subtle, serving just to underscore the bright nectarine, white currant and gooseberry notes. Medium-bodied, this wine is linear, focused and long, with a silky finish.
Full bottle 1,397 g. 83% Sauvignon Blanc, 17% Sémillon. Aged in equal parts stainless-steel tanks, neutral oak and new oak. Pale lemon. Subtly grassy with a sweet mango and chive-blossom nose. Lively, bright acidity that runs straight through the finish. Lemony and fresh with a bit of texture and vanilla oak spice. Layered. (SCJ)
A blend of 83% Sauvignon Blanc and 17% Sémillon, Clos du Val's 2023 Sauvignon Blanc displays pungent hints of boxwood along with scents of passion fruit and lime. Only medium-bodied on the palate, it's rather linear compared to many Napa Sauvignon Blancs, focused and refreshing at the expense of some textural richness.
