Tasting notes
Produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Pauli Vineyard has a deep garnet-purple color. It opens with notes of sautéed herbs, dried leaves, tobacco and baked black currants over a core of prunes and fruitcake with a waft of balsamic. Full-bodied, the palate has a sturdy frame of chewy tannins and uncomplicated dried berry flavors, finishing a little hard and herbal. 455 cases were made.

Formerly known as the Vogt Vineyard, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Pauli Vineyard comes from Howell Mountain and was brought up all in new French oak. It's a blockbuster styled effort that has tons of chocolate, black fruits, tobacco, and espresso notes. It has plenty of oak, yet it's integrated, balanced, and pure, with ripe tannins. There are 455 cases produced, and it’s a beautiful wine from this team to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years.
The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Pauli Vineyard is intriguing, as it is relatively easygoing for a Howell Mountain wine. Iron, grilled herbs, mint and rose petal add tons of aromatic nuance to this super-expressive, inviting Howell Mountain Cabernet. Best of all, the 2017 can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring.
