Tasting notes
As for the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard, this comes from a 2,800-foot elevation on Mt. Veeder. The wine offers incredibly sweet blueberry and blackberry fruit, some licorice, graphite, charcoal, an almost volcanic earthiness, and beautiful, sweet, velvety tannins. There are 283 cases, but again, all of this wine is sold directly to Beringer’s private membership club.

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Lampyridae Vineyard, from a vineyard on Mt. Veeder, is another super-intriguing wine. The richness that is typical of these wines today is present, but there is also good underlying structure. In particular, the Lampyridae is wonderfully vivid. Graphite, smoke, sage, incense and a host of spiced notes give the wine its distinctive exotic personality. This is one of the most distinctive wines in the range.
