The 2017 Zinfandel DuPratt Vineyard emerges from a site at 2,000 feet on the Mendocino Ridge. Sweet floral overtones and a range of super-expressive, varietal Zinfandel notes give the 2017 its alluring personality. Rich, bold and luscious with tremendous intensity in all of its dimensions, the DuPratt is a total stunner. Even with all of its fruit intensity, the DuPratt finishes with remarkable briskness and nuance. In 2017, the DuPratt simply screams with Zinfandel character. What a wine!

This comes from own-rooted vines planted in 1920 at an elevation of 1,500 feet. Winemaker Tegan Passalacqua says the natural acidity was so high this year that the wine took 15 months to complete malolactic fermentation. The 2017 Zinfandel Dupratt Vineyard is very deep purple-black in color with a luscious nose of blueberry compote and boysenberry fruit preserves with a concentrated warm peach cobbler and black fruit core plus hints of dried flowers and exotic spices. Medium to full-bodied, it has loads of lush fruit in the mouth, framed by firm, grainy tannins and mind-bending mouthwatering acidity, finishing very long and very layered with peach and floral flavors coming through. 325 cases produced.

Another highlight in this range, the 2017 Zinfandel DuPratt Vineyard is powerful, flamboyant and full of energy. I expect it is going to need at least a few years to shed some of its considerable baby fat. Even in the early going, the 2017 is a real stunner. This site on the Mendocino Ridge often yields wines of real distinction.
