Score 91-93/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2014

(from 60-year-old vines): Pale, green-tinged yellow. Lime, lemon and mint on the nose, along with a crushed stone quality. Less silky and sweet than the Champs Canet but dense, saline and minerally, showing powerful thrust to its citrus and licorice flavors. Conveys a tactile impression of dry extract and finishes with excellent lift and length. Pernot reminded me that his vines in both Champs Canet and Chalumeaux are located at higher altitude than his Clos de la Garenne.
