Tasting notes
The most elegant and complex of the single vineyards, the 2007 Gigondas le Poste (these are all basically 100% Grenache) reveals a youthful ruby/purple-tinged color to go with notes of crushed flowers, olives, cured meats and spice. This full-bodied, utterly seamless beauty has ultra-fine tannin, no hard edges, impeccable overall balance and a sensational finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 15 years or more.

Vivid ruby. Spicy black raspberry and floral aromas are complicated by smoky minerals, spicecake and a hint of tobacco; smells a lot like a classy Cote-Rotie. Vibrant, mineral-driven red and dark berry flavors envelop the palate and are complemented by deeper notes of candied licorice and lavender. Becomes sweeter and more minerally on the back half and finishes with excellent clarity and persistent echoes of sweet red fruit and flowers.
Bright ruby. Seductive scents of blackberry and blueberry preserves, minerals and smoked meat. Pliant and sweet, with deep black and blue fruit flavors, velvety texture and slow-mounting tannins. The finish is impressively pure and fresh, leaving sweet blueberry and candied plum flavors behind.
