2011 Bedrock Zinfandel Puccini Vineyard

The 2011 Zinfandel Puccini Vineyard is totally different than the Monte Rosso Zinfandel tasted alongside it. Here the flavors lean more toward red fruits, tobacco, wild flowers and sweet herbs. A wine of gorgeous aromatic lift and considerable palate presence, the 2011 impresses for the way it is both deeply expressive yet weightless. This isn’t an obvious Zinfandel, but rather a wine built on understated elegance and total finesse. I loved it. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2031. Morgan Peterson continues to put out a bevy of superb, site-driven wines, many of them focused on the old-vine, heritage sites he and a small cadre of fellow producers have brought back from the brink of extinction.
