Score 89/100 · Drink 2021-2034, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Oct 2019

Sporting a deep garnet-purple color, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Sugarloaf Vineyard opens just a little closed and broody, needing coaxing to reveal scents of baked plums, black currant pastilles, blueberry pie and raspberry leaves with wafts of wild thyme and cherry cough syrup. Full-bodied, the palate is a little firm and muscular at this stage, featuring rugged, chewy tannins and some warmth on the finish. This wine has promising fruit and weight, which may become a little more harmonious in the context of the structure with time.
