2012 DePonte Cellars Pinot Noir Estate

The 2012 Pinot Noir Estate has a noticeably deep purple hue. The bouquet is clean and pure with blackcurrant pastille and boysenberry fruit, although I would have sought more complexity and depth. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet blackcurrant and cassis fruit. It has a slightly grainy texture with fine backbone, although personally I find that the 2011 has a little more character.
