Tasting notes
The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is a stern, somewhat unyielding wine, yet there is plenty of personality in the glass. Tobacco, smoke, crushed flowers and grilled herbs all come alive as the 2008 opens up. Powerful and structured, the 2008 needs time to settle down, although I don't see it ever being particularly refined.

Dramatic orangey ruby. Sweet decay and undergrowth with hints of dried herbs and fruit. Balsamic, more than fruity. Good freshness on the palate but with a dry tannic finish. Seems already quite developed, so don’t cling to this. (WS)
