The 2021 Rüdesheim Berg Schlossberg GG VDP.Grosse Lage opens with a pure, flinty and lemon-scented nose with crunchy slate aromas. From the upper part of the cru, this a full-bodied, elegant, playful, persistently saline and mouthwatering Riesling with lots of tension and elegance but also more intellectual than hedonistic capacities. It is long and tensioned on the finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Screw cap. Tasted at the domaine in September 2023.

The 2021 Riesling Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Grosses Gewächs is still shy on the nose. The palate immediately presents the flowing juiciness of melon complemented by lime and grapefruit. With that sense of citric intensity and completeness, this aromatic interchange of pith, flesh, juice and zest is dramatically, emphatically played out on the palate across an enticing spectrum of citrus peel that covers that green-orange spectrum, leaving out yellow notions altogether. Stony, pure, incisive and profound, the 2021 is absolutely aromatic, citric, elegant and intense. (Bone-dry)

A great masterpiece of dry riesling filigree! Totally crystalline and super-silky, this has a truly extraordinary texture on the palate. How can a wine be this stony, yet also offer a ravishing spectrum of exotic fruit and floral aromas. Staggering finesse at the extremely long finish. From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Bright fruit aromas on a playful palate marked with crisp acidity. Spritely with a zing of CO 2 , and an honest sugar and acidity exchange. Still a baby, with plenty of room to grow. (PS)
