Score 90/100 · Drink 2021-2030, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Oct 2020
Slightly riper and richer than the regular bottling, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes claims to be made from an identical blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. It still offers red fruit on the nose, but has fewer herbal overtones, with the aromas resembling ripe cherries and raspberries. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, showing plenty of fine-grained tannins and a long, silky finish. This should be even better in a year or two and drink well for the rest of the decade.
