Score 95/100 · Drink 2028-2050, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Aug 2024

The 2023 Riesling Westhofener Kirchspiel Spätlese was harvested with about 5% of botrytized grapes. Lemony peach is immediately enticing on the nose. More air brings grapefruit zest. The palate also has that peach, but it is exquisitely tempered by ripe citrus. There is sweetness (85 g/L of residual sugar), but it comes with immense balance and elegance. Purity, precision and poise carry this, with the limestone coolness sending out iced freshness. (Sweet)

Grosse Lage. RS 80 g/l. Intense and vibrant. Essence of pure Rheinhessen stone fruit. Very clean and fresh. You could drink this young or old, it’s so pristine. (JR)
