Ruby with a bright rim. A vibrant dark berry- and potpourri-scented nose picks up suggestions of woodsmoke and sandalwood with aeration. Lively and sharply focused on the palate, offering juicy black raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that deepen and gain in sweetness in the glass. Closes silky and long, with building spiciness and smooth tannins that fold quickly into the wine's intense fruit.

The 2012 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard was picked October 17 and spent 11 months in 45% new oak. It has a deeper color compared to the Weber Vineyard Pinot, with high-toned, vanilla-laced black cherry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with oaky black fruit and a rather labored finish, the oak too dominating and denuding this otherwise decent Pinot of freshness and finesse.
