Tasting notes
The 2008 Vitovksa is a pure, crystalline wine infused with mineral-laced white peaches, honey and flowers. The 2008 is a beguiling, beautifully chiseled, understated Vitovksa that faithfully captures the essence of the house style. The wine's length and balance are first-rate, while the integration of the French oak is masterful. (1 l.)

The 2008 Vitovksa is a pure, crystalline wine infused with mineral-laced white peaches, honey and flowers. The 2008 is a beguiling, beautifully chiseled, understated Vitovksa that faithfully captures the essence of the house style. The wine’s length and balance are first-rate, while the integration of the French oak is masterful. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018. Edi Kante is one of Friuli’s superstar producers. Over the years his wines have built a marvelous track record. I recently finished all of my 1999 Sauvignon and 2000 Chardonnay Selezioni, and can report that the wines aged exquisitely. There are no 2008 Selezioni, but the straight bottlings are beautiful, and well worth your time. The Vitovksa and Malvasia were aged in used oak, while the Chardonnay and Sauvignon saw a small percentage of new barrels. On a more serious note, I am sure I am joined by legions of admirers in wishing Edi Kante a speedy recovery from a recent bout with illness. Importer: Domaine Select, New York, NY; tel. (212) 279-0799
