Offering lots of black fruits, licorice, earth and roasted herbs (and some dark chocolate), the 2013 Pepper Bridge Vineyard is rich, medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and textured, especially in the vintage. A big, chewy effort based off 45% Merlot, 30% Malbec and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, it will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and keep for a decade.

(winemaker Pellet describes this wine as a Right Bank blend): Bright ruby-red. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, licorice, tobacco leaf and black pepper, lifted by subtle floral notes of lavender and rose petal; a bit less expressive than the Seven Hills Vineyard Blend in the early going. Juicy and vinous in the mouth, with deep peppery acidity framing the dark fruit and licorice flavors. Blacker in its fruit character and more tannic than the Seven Hills Vineyard Blend; in a more masculine style but not dry. This wine will require more patience. Winemaker Pellet noted that, unlike Seven Hills, this vineyard never requires acid additions.
