Score 93/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2014
The 2012 Syrah is 35% whole-cluster foot-crushed and the rest destemmed to avoid any carbonic flavors, fermented naturally matured in 2,500-liter foudres and 225-liter second- and third-fill barrels for 16 months. It has a very pure bouquet with lifted raspberry and wild strawberry scents with a cheeky camphor notes coming through with aeration. The palate is crisp and taut, almost Cornas-like, very linear and structure with great precision on the white pepper dashed finish. This is a sublime Syrah - genuine class.

Dark crimson. Fully expressive nose. Opulent and medicinal on the end, but not over-the-top. Denser than the 2013 but with a slightly gawkier finish. Inky. (JR)
