Along with the 2016, the 2013 Syrah Judge Family Vineyard is one of the greatest Syrahs coming from Northern California. It’s an awe-inspiring, incredible wine that’s still 4-5 years away from getting close to maturity. Lots of blackcurrants, spring flowers, gamy meats, and a crushed rock-like minerality all flow to a full-bodied, powerful, regal Syrah that has no hard edges, remarkable purity of fruit, and a finish that won’t quit. This is a 30-year wine that readers should beg, borrow, or steal to get ahold of.
