Tasting notes
From the vineyard at AXR, which winemaker Jean Hoefliger describes as a rather late site, despite being north of the town of Saint Helena, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon V Madrone Vineyard boasts scents of mixed cherries and a hint of pine resin on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is creamy and vanilla-laden, lush but balanced, with a lingering finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon V. Madrone Vineyard is fabulous stuff, with rock star levels of red and black fruits as well as notes of smoked tobacco and iron. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine has full-bodied richness, fine tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and terrific length on the finish. This has lots of classic Cabernet herbal, chocolate, and almost bloody nuances and is going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. It should have two decades of longevity.
