Score 96/100 · Drink 2024-2035, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jul 2024

There are the usual minuscule quantities (195 cases this vintage) of Toymaker's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from a single vineyard in the Diamond Mountain District AVA. Made by Martha McClellan, it spent 28 months in 100% new Taransaud barrels. The oak is noticeable in its cigar box aromas and smooth, sculpted feel on the palate, but just as evident is the quality of the fruit—ripe black cherries and cassis—dressed up by hints of bay leaf and star anise. Full-bodied and plush yet with enough structure to age well for at least a decade, it's a fine example of Napa Cabernet.
