2014 K Vintners Syrah Phil Lane

(from a vineyard at 1,300 feet, just outside The Rocks): Bright medium red. A sexy smoked meat note adds interest to the aromas of raspberry, blueberry, cherry, fresh blood, menthol, roasted nuts and seaweed. Quite juicy and rather tight; not a fleshy or generous style but very pure. This lighter, refreshing style of Syrah will get more earthy, smoky and gamey with time in bottle. Finishes with a captivating light touch and excellent lift. My only quibble was that this wine does not appear to possess the intensity of the best 2014 Syrahs from K Vintners.
