Dark and intensely sensual, the 2019 Syrah Phil Lane tempts the senses with masses of dark fruit and exotic spices lifted by nuances of camphor. Deeply textural yet energetic, this boasts tart wild berry fruits and inner lavender tones that coat the palate, leaving a liquid stone concentration. It finishes perfumed and with tension, savory wild berry and sour citrus notes. There is so much tension here and complexity, yet the 2019 needs time to unwind fully.

Rocking levels of blue fruits, cassis, wild strawberries, and violets all emerge from the 2019 Syrah Phil Lane Vineyard, a medium to full-bodied, vibrant Syrah that comes from a tiny estate vineyard located on the eastern side of the Walla Walla Valley. All Syrah that was not destemmed and was brought up in 40% new French oak, the only downside of this cuvée is that it's made in miniscule quantities. I like it today, yet it has a terrific sense of freshness, as well as balance, and is going to have 10-12 years or more of prime drinking.
