Tasting notes
Blackberries and oak can be found in the aromatics of the medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Pinot noir Mark Bradford Vineyard. A highly structured medium-bodied wine, it displays outstanding power, depth, balance, and length. Black cherries, blackberries, and hints of plums can be discerned in its expressive character. Projected maturity: now-2009. When asked his opinion of 2000, winemaker Tony Rinders stated, "six to twelve months ago I would have told you I preferred the 1999s, but now I believe 2000 is clearly the better vintage because of its floral component and higher acid levels." Saturated ruby-red. Slightly high-toned aromas of blackberry, violet pastille, black licorice and oak. Sweet, smooth and spicy, with notes of blackberry, espresso and horseradish. Broad but not really filled in. Finishes with light, dusty tannins.
