Good deep red-ruby. Very ripe, somewhat high-toned aromas of raspberry and oak. Sweet, fat and full in the mouth, with strong oakiness and good peppery lift. Finishes with broad tannins and a slight alcoholic warmth. .

American Gary Andrus’ wine is much sweeter, more intense, more Californian than most others, and was popular with the crowds at the tasting where I came across this. Some obvious oak, spice and a bit of cough sweet flavour in the middle. Distinctive. (JR)
