All from the Trefethen family's estate vineyard in Oak Knoll, the 2019 Merlot The Cowgirl and The Pilot incorporates 11% Cabernet Franc. There's a distinct herbal-floral thing going on, plus black cherries and some pencil shavings on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky textured and reasonably concentrated. It's an easy-drinking, balanced effort that should drink well for up to a decade.
