The 2018 Syrah Kenefick Ranch 100% Whole Cluster is fascinating to taste next to the destemmed version. Here the flavor profile is a bit less overt, but what really impresses is the wine's persistence. The Whole Cluster version feels more energetic and poised through to the finish. Sage, mint and lavender add pretty bright notes over time.

One of the riper, sexier wines in the lineup (although none of these lack for fruit or opulence), the 2018 Syrah Kenefick Ranch boast classic Napa Valley red, black, and blue fruits as well as lots of grilled toast, violets, white flowers, hints of creamy vanilla, and baking spice. Beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, and seamless on the palate, it’s another wine from this great winemaker that shows wonderful California fruit and texture while also showing classic varietal typicity. Drink it any time over the coming decade.
