Score 90/100 · Drink 2018-2026, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2018

(14.5% alcohol; 85% from Beckstoffer Las Piedras vineyard and 15% from Dana Estate's Crystal Springs vineyard): Dark ruby. High-toned nutty oak and coffee overlay blackcurrant and graphite on the nose. Fat, plush and sweet, offering a sexy creaminess and plenty of personality to the quickly evolving flavors of boysenberry, truffle, spices and herbs. The wine's green notes are nicely buffered by its sweetness. Fine-grained but a bit medicinal, finishing with building but sweet tannins that make those of this producer's 2008 Napa Valley Cabernet seem dry and green by comparison. I could drink this now.
