Tasting notes
(100% cabernet sauvignon, from two steep, rocky terraces located above Chimney Rock in the Stags Leap District): Bright dark ruby. Very ripe but slightly medicinal aromas of cassis, black raspberry, licorice, menthol and bitter chocolate. Much sweeter and suppler than the Palm Terrace offering, with a finer-grained texture to the creamy cassis and bitter chocolate flavors. Concentrated, sappy and quite primary today, with the depth and big tooth-dusting tannins to reward cellaring. These vines are just 12 or 13 years old but the power of the site already comes through. Two thousand ten was the first vintage that Mike Hirby was responsible for from start to finish.

(100% cabernet sauvignon, from a very steep hillside vineyard above Stags Leap District): Dark berries, licorice, minerals and roasted herbs on the nose. Dense and fine-grained, with dark fruit flavors given a juicy quality by a black pepper element. Much more texture and sweetness of fruit than the Palm Terrace example. Really spreads out and saturates the palate on the juicy, long back end, which features a firm tannic spine for aging. The Husic wines are made by Mike Hirby.
