This recent sample was still labeled Tokay, although I thought that terminology was being phased out. Campbells NV Rutherglen Tokay, which is produced using a modified solera system, boasts seductive aromas of dried figs, candied citrus and maple syrup. It's not that full-bodied or rich for a fortified, making it reasonably easy to drink a glass with cheese or dessert.

Savoury nose. Quite subtle and already with some age impression. Tastes too old for the classification? Treacly edge. Refreshing finish. The driest. (JR)
