Score 88/100 · Drink 2002-2016, Robert Parker, Dec 2000

The 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon 17th Anniversary Release offers a dark ruby color as well as a big, peppery, spicy, black currant, plum, mineral, earth, and dried herb-scented bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, with a fine texture in addition to a medium-weight, Bordeaux-like style, it has firm tannin, but not much lushness and complexity. It requires 2-3 years of cellaring, and should keep for 15-16 years. Tel. (707) 965-3020; Fax (707) 965-0324

Fuller ruby color. Cassis and raspberry lifted by a pungent minerality. Denser than the HMS, but still a wine of only moderate flavor ripeness; currant and green tobacco flavors are currently a bit dominated by oak. But here the tannins are considerably riper.
