The dark ruby/purple-colored 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate exhibits a smoky, black currant, dried herb, and licorice-scented nose. Dense, full-bodied, and rich, with excellent concentration and purity, it is well-made. Anticipated maturity: now-2012. Tel. (707) 963-9093; Fax (707) 963-1147

Good deep red. Roasted, liqueur-like, plummy aroma seemed to shut down in the glass. Lush and smooth on entry, with flavors of plum, currant and tobacco. Then finishes with rather rough tannins and a hint of excess acidity.
