Score 95/100 · Drink 2016-2031, Robert Parker, Dec 2016

The 2013 Hamel Family Ranch Proprietary Red is actually 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc, aged in 100% new French oak for 30 months prior to bottling. This is an impressive wine, with a stunning nose of incense, camphor, black and blue fruits, charcoal and an almost Graves-like element of burning embers. Soft tannins, fabulous fruit concentration, full-bodied opulence and beautiful unctuosity and purity make for a savory, full-throttle, full-bodied wine to drink now and over the next 15 or more years.
